When Storey Racing launched in 2017 it was the perfect opportunity to continue the relationship with the elite riders and every member of Boot Out Breast Cancer is welcome to visit the team at races and some even volunteer their time to help with things like photography and getting the coffees!

The name of the team comes from one of the charities that Sarah is a patron for, currently based in the north-west of England but looking to expand their remit further afield. Boot Out Breast Cancer, founded by Debbie Dowie in 2009, raises funds to buy screening equipment for NHS Hospitals as this is an area that is often lacking with staff struggling to keep up with the screening demand because they either don’t have enough machines, or the ones they do have are older models and work more slowly.

To date the charity has benefitted hospitals across the north-west from Leighton Hospital to the MRI and Wigan and Bolton. Some of the equipment donated to the MRI in 2012 allows the hospital to analyse samples far quicker and in greater numbers than they were previously able, thus ensuring a much better service and speed to treatment for the patients. As everyone knows, time is of the essence when dealing with cancer diagnosis.

The cycling club aims to be appealing to all types of cyclists and has the motto #YourClubYourWay meaning that there are no special requirements of membership, members can be as involved or as independent as they would like. Crucially too the club operates nationally, supporting riders to enjoy the sport and get involved with a friendly and determined group of riders. Whilst there are no formal club rides, members in different areas will create their own ride outs and if members are travelling and wish to ride with a club member in the area they are visiting they are encouraged to interact and share their adventures via the closed group on Facebook.
