The BOBC cycling club also has the aim of taking the message of the Boot Out Breast Cancer charity around the UK. Boot Out Breast Cancer was set up in 2010 by Debbie Dowie who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. She decided to turn her experience into a positive one and Boot Out Breast Cancer was born. Debbie felt very fortunate that she had received such prompt care and attention but, the more she discussed her diagnosis and treatment, the more she became aware of just how many women receive this diagnosis each year. The NHS is in great need of the latest diagnostic equipment and Boot Out Breast Cancer aim to make a difference.

Since the first event in November 2010 Boot Out Breast Cancer has raised over £540,000, all of which has been spent on equipment in the North West.

The organisation has raised money to provide equipment for numerous hospitals in the North West. The level of funding for the latest state-of-the-art equipment is almost non existent in the NHS at the present time, as confirmed by the UK Statistics Authority only recently and Boot Out Breast Cancer are fighting to plug this gap.

By using the vehicle of the club to spread the BOBC message the hope is to create fundraising opportunities to start raising money for NHS hospitals all over the UK.

The reason for choosing a cycling club to help spread the word is because men get breast cancer too and this is a rarely known face about the disease.

Whilst the club is borne out of a charity and cycling competition background, neither of these motivations are a pre-requisite for membership and riders who join this club will simply share a love of cycling whether as a participant, spectator, social rider or simply being involved with this fantastic community.

This is a club for everyone and anyone, any age and any level of participation in cycling. From elite racers to those who just enjoy hanging out in a cycling environment, the club wants to bring together people who love cycling and enjoy helping others. The sister club of Podium Ambition – Sports Tours Pro Cycling, this is a unique chance to get even closer to riders you love watching and supporting.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
